Trauma Scene Cleanup

Trauma Scene Cleanup can be associated by other names. Normally, names associated with this kind of service are: biohazard scene cleanup, crime scene cleanup and blood-borne pathogen cleanup, just to name a few. To simply put it, theses services deal with work sites and situations that involve blood and/or bodily fluids which are found in buildings, vehicles, outdoor patios, pools and public areas.

Trauma Sites

To put it in perspective, areas where a traumatic situation has occurred include:

  • Sites where a murder has occurred.
  • Sites where a suicide has occurred.
  • Sites where an accident has occurred.
  • Sites where a body has decomposed.
  • Sites where a violent attack has occurred.
  • Sites where blood is present.
  • Sites where blood and bodily fluids are present that may not be human (dead or injured animals).
Water Damage

In all these situations, the most important thing to know is that with the presence of blood, bodily fluids, fecal matter and pieces of anatomy, there is a large potential for infectious pathogens (disease causing in humans) to be present. Always be cautious with such infectious pathogens as:

• Bacteria: tuberculosis, strep, staph, E-coli.

• Fungi: aspergillosis, histoplasmosis.

• Viruses: hepatitis A, B, C, D and E. West Nile, HIV, common cold, flu and Coronavirus.

•Prions (an infectious agent made up of protein): bovine spongiform encephalopathy (also known as “mad cow disease”) in cattle and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) in humans.
